The?CVS Caremark?Charitable Trust,?a private foundation created by?CVS Caremark Corporation,?announced that $2.6 million in grants has been awarded to 66 nonprofit organizations across the country. The new grant recipients were chosen through the 2012 CVS Caremark Charitable Trust's annual grant cycle. The awarded grants align with CVS Caremark's purpose of helping people on their path to better health and focus on initiatives supporting access to health care and children's programming.
The board of directors of the Rosenberg Foundation approved increasing its giving in 2013 to advance immigration reform. The foundation has awarded more than $1 million in first quarter grants to 15 organizations, including special opportunity grants to support reform of the country's immigration laws and policies.
The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (FSR) announced a gift of $500,000 to launch a new giving level named the Marvin and Harlene Wool Giving Society. The funds from Marvin and Harlene Wool of St. Louis will boost FSR's ability to invest in large collaborative projects strategically designed to push sarcoidosis research forward into uncharted, promising territories.
AmeriCares has awarded a $250,000 grant to Long Beach Medical Center in Long Beach, N.Y., to continue primary care services for low-income and uninsured patients in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The funds will help offset operating costs for the hospital's Family Care Center, which was flooded with more than 10 feet of water during the October storm.
The Wiederhold Foundation, which is managed by the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut, recently awarded $481,261.85?in grants to animal care and rescue groups to support efforts to provide disaster recovery services, rescue shelters and access to veterinary care for animals. The grants support the repair and improvement of kennel facilities, animal emergency rescue efforts, the facilitation of spay and neuter programs and other veterinary services for underserved areas.
Change Making Change Fund (CMC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children around the world through the collection of pocket change, announced that?Keep A Child Alive?will be the recipient of non-designated donations this month.??All non-designated money donated this month to CMC through Coinstar kiosks will support a global effort to provide treatment, food and orphan care to those affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.?

AccuFund Inc., a provider of financial reporting and accounting software for nonprofit, municipal and government organizations, announced that senior sales professional Joseph C. Sabella has joined the company as the eastern U.S. sales manager. Sabella's responsibilities will include working with AccuFund reseller partners in the eastern half of the United States to drive sales in that region, recruiting new partners from across the country, and helping users of manual and outdated accounting systems understand the benefits of the AccuFund Accounting Suite.

Throughout the entire month of April, dental professionals and organizations across the United States stand to promote the safety and education of protecting one's face and head.?Smile Train is hosting a social media campaign through April 30 asking participants to take photographs of themselves smiling and then upload the pictures to Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr using the hash tag #SmileNFPM.? This is the only regularly-scheduled survey that looks specifically at fundraising by?Michigan?nonprofit organizations.??A full report will be released on the firm's website?in late April.? The?2013 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study, conducted by?M+R Strategic Services?and?NTEN, examines data from 55 nonprofits in sectors ranging from rights to environmental issues. The?eNonprofit Benchmarks Study?is an industry-leading report that examines fundraising response rates, average gift amounts, advocacy response rates, and e-mail click-through rates, among other factors, to set benchmarks by which nonprofits can measure their online performance.? This year's study analyzes 1.6 billion email messages sent to 45 million list subscribers, 7.3 million advocacy actions, and more than $438 million online donations from more than 6.5 million online gifts collected throughout 2012.

The Gateway for Cancer Research?invites the public to select the recipient of the inaugural Cancer Researcher of the Year Award. Gateway's new Cancer Researcher of the Year Award is an annual recognition that celebrates cancer research heroes who work tirelessly to discover better, safer and more effective cancer treatments that may help cancer patients feel better, live longer or be cured today. The Foundation Center and the Open Society Foundations have launched the web portal BMAfunders.org?to facilitate engagement, collaboration, and strategic decision making among funders, nonprofits, and policymakers working to promote positive outcomes for black men and boys in America. The site is supported by the Campaign for Black Male Achievement, in which the Open Society Foundations has invested $50 million throughout the past five years.

The A Walk Around The World ?event, a walk-only fundraiser limited to 50 participants, takes place Nov. 14-18.
