The?CVS Caremark?Charitable Trust,?a private foundation created by?CVS Caremark Corporation,?announced that $2.6 million in grants has been awarded to 66 nonprofit organizations across the country. The new grant recipients were chosen through the 2012 CVS Caremark Charitable Trust's annual grant cycle. The awarded grants align with CVS Caremark's purpose of helping people on their path to better health and focus on initiatives supporting access to health care and children's programming.

The board of directors of the Rosenberg Foundation approved increasing its giving in 2013 to advance immigration reform. The foundation has awarded more than $1 million in first quarter grants to 15 organizations, including special opportunity grants to support reform of the country's immigration laws and policies.

The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (FSR) announced a gift of $500,000 to launch a new giving level named the Marvin and Harlene Wool Giving Society. The funds from Marvin and Harlene Wool of St. Louis will boost FSR's ability to invest in large collaborative projects strategically designed to push sarcoidosis research forward into uncharted, promising territories.

AmeriCares has awarded a $250,000 grant to Long Beach Medical Center in Long Beach, N.Y., to continue primary care services for low-income and uninsured patients in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The funds will help offset operating costs for the hospital's Family Care Center, which was flooded with more than 10 feet of water during the October storm.

The Wiederhold Foundation, which is managed by the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut, recently awarded $481,261.85?in grants to animal care and rescue groups to support efforts to provide disaster recovery services, rescue shelters and access to veterinary care for animals. The grants support the repair and improvement of kennel facilities, animal emergency rescue efforts, the facilitation of spay and neuter programs and other veterinary services for underserved areas.

Change Making Change Fund (CMC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children around the world through the collection of pocket change, announced that?Keep A Child Alive?will be the recipient of non-designated donations this month.??All non-designated money donated this month to CMC through Coinstar kiosks will support a global effort to provide treatment, food and orphan care to those affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.?

College Access Foundation of California announced the?appointment of Martha (Marty) Campbell, a nonprofit leader with extensive?experience?managing program initiatives to assess and improve foundation?effectiveness, as chief?learning officer of the foundation. Campbell will lead the foundation's research,?evaluation and?learning initiatives.

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation has announced that Carol Coletta,?the former president of CEOs for Cities and the current director of ArtPlace,?will become its?new vice president/community and national initiatives.?Coletta, a nationally recognized expert on cities and use of the arts to build?communities,?brings broad experience to advancing Knight Foundation's mission of promoting informed and engaged communities.?

AccuFund Inc., a provider of financial reporting and accounting software for nonprofit, municipal and government organizations, announced that senior sales professional Joseph C. Sabella has joined the company as the eastern U.S. sales manager. Sabella's responsibilities will include working with AccuFund reseller partners in the eastern half of the United States to drive sales in that region, recruiting new partners from across the country, and helping users of manual and outdated accounting systems understand the benefits of the AccuFund Accounting Suite.

The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) has expanded its board of directors to 32 members with the addition of Thomas E. Nobile and John Iachetti Sr.? Part of the CenterLight Health System, the nonprofit IMNF is one of the world's leading authorities and pioneers in clinical music therapy treatment, research, professional training and education.

Todd Larsen, executive vice president of Time Inc. and group president of News and Sports, has joined the board of directors of Literacy Partners. Literacy Partners' mission is to end illiteracy, one adult at a time.

The Council on Foundations announced that Darren Sandow, executive director of the Hagedorn Foundation, will receive the Robert W. Scrivner Award for Creative Grantmaking, and Vartan Gregorian, president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, will receive the Distinguished Service Award at the Council on Foundations annual conference in Chicago.

Smile Train, the?world's largest cleft lip and palate charity, has announced a partnership with the New York Islanders in celebration of National Facial Protection Month.? Throughout the entire month of April, dental professionals and organizations across the United States stand to promote the safety and education of protecting one's face and head.?Smile Train is hosting a social media campaign through April 30 asking participants to take photographs of themselves smiling and then upload the pictures to Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr using the hash tag #SmileNFPM.? For every photo uploaded, Islanders' team dentist, Dr. Marc Herman, will donate $1 to the charity.?

Montgomery Consulting of Huntington Woods,?Mich.,?has released results from its second annual?Michigan Fundraising Conditions Survey.? This is the only regularly-scheduled survey that looks specifically at fundraising by?Michigan?nonprofit organizations.??A full report will be released on the firm's website?in late April.? It will include additional breakdowns of responses to selected questions by region and/or organization type.

The?2013 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study, conducted by?M+R Strategic Services?and?NTEN, examines data from 55 nonprofits in sectors ranging from rights to environmental issues. The?eNonprofit Benchmarks Study?is an industry-leading report that examines fundraising response rates, average gift amounts, advocacy response rates, and e-mail click-through rates, among other factors, to set benchmarks by which nonprofits can measure their online performance.? This year's study analyzes 1.6 billion email messages sent to 45 million list subscribers, 7.3 million advocacy actions, and more than $438 million online donations from more than 6.5 million online gifts collected throughout 2012.

The Blackbaud Index reported that overall giving increased 2.9 percent and online giving increased 10.8 percent for the three months ending in February as compared to the same period in 2012, indicating a continued recovery of charitable giving. National Brain Tumor Society, a nonprofit dedicated to the brain tumor community in the United States, announced the formation of the Defeat GBM Research Collaborative. Defeat GBM is a strategic research initiative, which aims to double the five-year survival rate of patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) - the most common and deadliest form of brain cancer - in just five years.

New Jersey SEEDS, a nonprofit organization that changes children's lives by creating access to exceptional educational opportunities, announced that CHASE and Laura Bilodeau Overdeck, founder and president of Bedtime Math, will be honored at SEEDS' Annual Leading Change Benefit. SEEDS' Leading Change Award was established to recognize those whose initiative and commitment have enhanced the educational opportunities of young people throughout the communities New Jersey SEEDS serves.

The Gateway for Cancer Research?invites the public to select the recipient of the inaugural Cancer Researcher of the Year Award. Online voting for one of six award finalists is open to the community through April 15 at DemandCuresToday.org. Gateway's new Cancer Researcher of the Year Award is an annual recognition that celebrates cancer research heroes who work tirelessly to discover better, safer and more effective cancer treatments that may help cancer patients feel better, live longer or be cured today. The Award honors a Gateway-funded clinical investigator who has achieved measurable and significant excellence in the field of cancer research, in addition to positively impacting the lives of individuals living with cancer.

The Foundation Center and the Open Society Foundations have launched the web portal BMAfunders.org?to facilitate engagement, collaboration, and strategic decision making among funders, nonprofits, and policymakers working to promote positive outcomes for black men and boys in America. The site is supported by the Campaign for Black Male Achievement, in which the Open Society Foundations has invested $50 million throughout the past five years.

The A Walk Around The World ?event, a walk-only fundraiser limited to 50 participants, takes place Nov. 14-18. For three days, walkers will hit the sidewalks and walkways averaging 10 miles a day, following a suggested journey through Florida's Walt Disney World Resort. Changing Our World announced, with the Alliance for Global Good (AFGG), the opening of the second round of competition for grants from its Innovation Fund.? The board of directors of the Grant Professionals Foundation announced the kickoff of a 2013 fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $10,000 to support education and training for grant professionals. The Every Chapter Challenge supports conference attendance and membership in the Grant Professionals Association (GPA). The Foundation challenges each of GPA's 41 local chapters to raise $250 for scholarships, and recognizes the highest performing chapter as its Star Chapter at the annual GPA National Conference, held this year in Baltimore on Nov. 14-17.
